A Good Meal is Hard to Find: Mississippi Launch April 1
Grab The Corkscrew writer Amy C. Evans along with the talented Martha Hall Foose will launch their labor of love and collaborative book A Good Meal Is Hard To Find: Storied Recipes from the Deep South at the 27th Annual Oxford Conference for the Book on April 2 in Oxford.
The book includes 60 recipes accompanying 60 paintings organized into five chapters—Morning's Glories, Lingering Lunches, Dinner Dates & Late-Night Takes, Afternoon Pick-Me-Ups, and Anytime Sweets.
Martha created recipes in response to Amy’s paintings, and the vignettes that introduce each recipe are expanded versions of the original painting titles, combining both author’s sensibilities and humor, creating a quirky cast of characters that readers will love getting to know.
The book is described as a love letter to the women and food of the Deep South with charming narratives, visual storytelling, and delectable recipes.
Amy and Martha will also make scheduled stops at Turnrow Book Co. in Greenwood on May 2 and Lemuria Books in Jackson on May 5.
A Good Meal is Hard to Find is published by Chronicle Books and is available for pre-order! If you’re in Oxford, you can get it at Square Books starting April 1. (Pub date is April 28.)
