Dixie grew up in Oxford and spent most days learning how to cook southern comfort food from her grandmother Miss Vetra. Her grandmother's kitchen is where she discovered her family recipes and that food should tell a story and bring people together.

These recipes, stories, and memories inspired her to pursue a career in the culinary arts, where she has been an executive chef for more than 30 years.

Dixie was the co-owner and executive chef at The B.T.C. Old-Fashioned Grocery in Water Valley and the co-author of The B.T.C. Old-Fashioned Grocery Cookbook.

A lifelong Mississippian, she and her wife Jaime live in Water Valley and enjoy traveling in search of people and food with a story to tell.
